SAHIBZADA MUHAMMAD MEHBOOB SULTAN , Federal Minister for Ministry of States and Frontier Regions

Sahibzada Muhammad Meboob Sultan, the Federal Minister for Ministry of States and Frontier Regions is a veteran politician. His responsibilities include policy matters relating to the ex-States which merged with or acceded to Pakistan and Afghan refugees in Pakistan. There are 1.43 million registered Afghan refugees in Pakistan managed through the Chief Commissionerate of Afghan refugees at the national and Afghan Refugees Commisionerates at the provincial level. In addition to the responsibilities of these Commissionerates and the Ministry, the Federal Minister attends to policy matters at Cabinet level while responding to the Parliament and its Standing Committees. He has thrice been elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan. In the past he has also served as the Federal Minister for National Food Security. He was educated at prestigious institutions and belongs to a prominent spiritual and political family of Jhang District.

"It is my privilege to head a Ministry which was not only created under the specific instructions of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah but also functioned under his direct supervision, guidance and control. Heading such a Ministry is both an honour and a challenge. The current geo-political situation of the region has increased the sensitivities of the subjects dealt with by this Ministry and the requirements are critical in our national and foreign policy context. Ministry of States and Frontier Regions has been working in collaboration with all stakeholders in dealing with the protracted issue of Afghan Refugees for almost four decades. The Ministry continues to respond to the challenges in accordance with the policies of the Government. In addition to the subject of Afghan refugees, the Ministry is also responsible for matters relating to ex-states which merged with or acceded to Pakistan and budgetary allocations for Federal Levies in Balochistan. We hope to make the website informative in relation to the Ministry's mandate."
